We offer quality instrument repairs on almost all musical instruments and equipment. Minor repairs are done FREE while you wait. We offer instrument repairs from playing condition through complete overhauls of all student to professional woodwinds, brasswinds, strings (violin, viola, cello, and bass) guitars, basses, and percussion instruments!
Repairs are based on an $95 per hour rate, $30 minimum.
Repads and overhauls are based at a discount rate of $60 per hour with a minimum of 4 hours and up.
We will call with an estimate if over 2 hours' worth of work is needed to complete repair.

Guitar Repairs

Rates start at $30 minimum, and we will call with an estimate if the repair is over 2 hours of work on most repairs. Please allow 1-2 days for repairs done in-house. Please allow 1-2 weeks on repairs sent out to repairman.

Guitar and Bass Repair

Victor Litz Music offers guitar repairs on acoustic, electric, bass guitars, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, and more. We can do anything from a minor restring to major reconstruction.

Turnaround times on guitar repairs are 1-2 days on repairs we do in-store such as restrings and minor repairs.
Bigger guitar repair jobs are 1-2 weeks, such as setups, pickup installations, neck or body repairs, etc.

Other Repairs

After more than 60 years in business, we have seen just about everything.
We have done repairs on just about any instruments from dulcimers, ukuleles, autoharps, tabla, conga, marimba, xylophone, cymbals, drums, banjos, door chimes, mandolins, melodica, oud, electric drums, djembes, marimbas, and more. If you have something unique that needs repair, bring it in, and we will see what we can do.

At this time, we do not do electronic repairs on amplifiers, keyboards, or pro sound gear.

Brass Instrument Repairs Are Done In-House in 1-2 Business Days (at $95.00 per hour)

Brass – trumpet, cornet, trombone – playing condition $95
Larger instruments such as baritone and tuba playing condition is $95.
Turnaround time is 1-2 business days on brass instrument repairs such as trumpet, trombone, cornet, baritone, tuba, etc.

Brass Instrument Playing Condition – Have your instrument cleaned and serviced 1-2 times a year in order to keep it in good playing condition. Brass playing condition includes pulling all slides and valves, complete snake cleaned inside and out, each valve hand scrubbed.

Reassembled, lubed, oiled, and play tested. Minor dents pushed out, water keys checked, and corks replaced if needed. Simple, inexpensive, and regular maintenance prevents costly repairs later on. Minor valve and slide repairs are included. Additional fees apply if more than 1-hour labor is required to repair a major slide or valve problem.

Trumpet, cornet, trombone, etc., complete overhaul, refinish, and service special—only $190. Please allow 2-4 weeks for this service. The refinish service includes removing minor dents refinishing replacing felts corks as needed. These instruments come out looking brand new, basically.

Woodwind instrument repair turnaround time is 1-2 weeks on woodwinds such as flute, clarinet, sax, oboe, bassoon etc.

These are sent out.
Brass instrument repair turnaround time is 1-2 days and is done in-house. If the instrument should need more work and need to be sent out, please allow 1-2 weeks for repairs.
String orchestral repair turnaround time is 1-2 days and is done in-house. If the instrument should need more work and need to be sent out, please allow 1-2 weeks for repairs.
Guitar, bass, and string instrument repair turnaround time is 1-2 days for restrings and minor repairs done in house.

Guitar, bass, and string instrument repair turnaround times are 1-2 weeks for setups, pickup installations, major glue jobs etc.

The basic idea is-if less than half of the pads need to be replaced, the instrument can usually be put into good play condition. If more than half of the pads need to be replaced, it's more cost-efficient, and the instrument will play better if it is repadded or mechanically overhauled.

Play Condition – This service includes checking all pads for condition and proper sealing, leveling pads as needed for proper seating on the tone hole. Checking and replacing missing key corks and felts; checking headjoint cork tightness and adjustment; checking foot joint and headjoint tenon fit; checking spring tension, removing minor dents; checking body tube for straightness, cleaning body and keys, oiling mechanism, and making all adjustments. Pad replacement is extra.
Student Flute – 1.0 Hour; Open Hole Flute – 1.5 Hours (at $95 per hour)

Repad – This service includes all of the services of the play condition in addition to removing all keys, cleaning/polishing body and keys with silver polishing cloths or minor buffing, replacing all pads and shims, and checking keywork for proper fitting.
Student Flute – 4 to 5 Hours Est. $240-$300 Open Hole Flute – 6 to 7 Hours; Pro Flute – by estimate (at $60.00 per hour)

Clarinet Repairs

Play Condition – This service includes checking all pads for condition and proper sealing, reseating pads as needed for proper seating on the tone hole; checking and replacing missing key corks and felts; checking spring tension, oiling the bore (wood clarinets only), cleaning mouthpiece, body and keys, oiling mechanism, and making all adjustments. It includes the replacement of one or two pads. Tenon cork replacement is extra (0.2 hr. per tenon).
Student Clarinet – 1.0 Hour; Wood Clarinet – 1.5 Hours (at $95 per hour)
Repad – This service includes all of the services of the play condition in addition to removing all keys, cleaning body and keys with oilcloths or minor buffing, checking tone holes, replacing all pads, and checking keywork for proper fitting. Specialty pads are extra.
Student Clarinet – 4 to 6 Hours, Wood Clarinet – 6 to 7 Hours (at $60.00 per hour)
Overhaul- 7 to 10 Hours, includes repad, replace key cork, clean body and keys, lube, Major overhaul repad buff and polish keys and body, Treat wood, replace tenon Corks, key corks, Oil keys and wood bore, restore logo hours. Inspected wood bore for cracks.

Saxophone Repairs

Play Condition – This service includes checking all pads for condition and proper sealing, leveling pads as needed for proper seating on the tone hole; checking and replacing missing key corks and felts; checking spring tension, removing minor reachable dents; checking body tube for straightness; checking neck tenon fit, cleaning mouthpiece, body and keys, oiling mechanism, and making all adjustments. Pad replacement is extra.
Alto or Tenor – 1-1.5 Hours; Baritone or Soprano – 2.0 Hours (at $95 per hour)
Repad – This service includes all of the services of the play condition in addition to removing all keys, cleaning/polishing body and keys, checking and resurfacing tone holes as needed, straightening key cups, replacing all pads, replacing neck cork (if needed), and checking keywork for proper fitting. Specialty pads and/or resonators are extra.
Student Soprano, Alto, or Tenor – 8 Hours Est.; $480 Student Baritone – 10 Hours Professional Saxophones by Estimate at $60.00 per Hour.

Additional Services – Charged by the Hour or Fraction Thereof at $95 per hour

Individual pad replacement, spring replacement, dent removal, soldering, tenon cork replacement, headjoint cork replacement, neck cork replacement, key and pivot screw replacement, post resetting, crack repair, tenon ring tightening.

String Orchestral Instrument Repairs Are Done In-Store 1-2 Business Days (at $95.00 per hour)

Such as violin, viola, cello, bass, etc.
String Orchestra Instruments Playing Condition – Minor cracks and damaged areas repaired, instrument cleaned and polished, the bridge will be placed in the proper position, pegs lubed if needed so pegs will be easy to tune and don't slip or stick. If needed, drill new string holes in tuning pegs. Soundpost set if needed. Strings cleaned or replaced if needed (playing condition does not cover materials such as strings or bridges, etc.). Check the bow for elasticity and that the frog adjustment is in good working order, set fine tuners to optimum positions, check tailgut, check and clean case, etc.
