Design and construction elements

The YAS-480 design and layout borrow from the original YAS-62. It features the annealed yellow brass neck construction that made the original YAS-62 a professional standard for years. The neck, body and key material are all yellow brass, and the hand-engraving on the YAS-480 bell adds a charming texture to its rich gold lacquer or optional silver plating. The redesigned octave key system lets players choose between the included 62-style neck and those designed for the Custom Z and Custom EX Yamaha saxophones. The included new 62-style neck has been redesigned for improved tone and response.

Adjustable, comfortable and consistent

Separate key guards feature adjustable screw cap stoppers, and the left-hand seesaw key increases playability by increasing comfort. The YAS-480’s low B-C# mechanism ensures consistent closing of the low C# key to promote clear response from the low register. The pads are waterproof leather and wool felt with plastic tone boosters. A front F key, a high F# key, drawn tone holes, stainless steel springs, and an adjustable plastic thumb hook complete the most notable hardware features.
