The sE Electronics X1 A is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone built for home studios and serious recording setups. When sE released the original X1 in 2010, it raised the bar for affordable microphones. Now, the X1 A continues that legacy. It uses a newly developed condenser capsule and a rugged all-metal X1 Series chassis. As a result, it delivers professional sound and impressive specs at an even lower price.

Versatile by Design

The X1 A handles a wide range of sources. Use it on vocals, acoustic guitar, guitar cabinets, piano, strings, brass, woodwinds, and drum overheads or room mics. Because of its cardioid polar pattern, it focuses on the sound in front of the microphone and reduces unwanted noise from the sides and rear.

Natural, Detailed Sound

At its core, the X1 A features a 2/3\” back-electret condenser capsule. It captures a smooth, natural response across the full 20 Hz-20 kHz range. In addition, the microphone offers 20 mV/Pa sensitivity and a low 16 dB self-noise floor, so it records fine detail with excellent clarity. The 78 dB signal-to-noise ratio and 134 dB dynamic range (with the pad engaged) let you record everything from soft vocals to loud instruments without losing definition.

Ready for Real Recording Sessions

The X1 A also handles demanding sessions with ease. Engage the -20 dB pad when recording loud sources, and use the 100 Hz high-pass filter to reduce rumble and proximity effect. These controls give you more flexibility without slowing down your workflow. Finally, the microphone runs on standard 48V phantom power and works smoothly with almost any audio interface or preamp.
