Guitar has been set up beautifully and is in excellent playing condition. All original. This guitar was originally bought as an investment and has only been played a hand full of times. There are some spots in the finish where the felt from the strap button deteriorated and caused a reaction in the finish, resulting in these black spots on the guitar. I guess this is what can happen if you leave your guitar in its case for 10+ years. This is also a slight stress crack in the finish near the neck joint. This is purely cosmetic and will not effect the stability of the instrument. Guitar will ship in its original hard shell case and will include truss rod wrench and an old strap.

Every great electric guitar begins with its tonewoods, and the 50th Anniversary Firebird is no exception. Like the original 1963 Firebird, this tribute is based on the complicated through-neck design that includes a multi-piece mahogany neck and body-center section with solid mahogany wings, all resulting in superb resonance and sustain.

The iconic reverse-bodied styling was named for its approximation of a more conventional offset double-cutaway guitar flipped front to back. The neck is carved in the slim and super-fast Firebird profile, and measures .800 inch at the 1st fret and .850 inch at the 12th. A genuine Grade-A rosewood fingerboard carries 22 medium-jumbo frets and traditional trapezoid inlays, and is topped with a PLEK-cut Corian nut.

To kick it all up a notch in the tonal stakes Gibson USA equips the 50th Anniversary Firebird with its breed of re-engineered Firebird Mini Humbucking pickups. Loaded with ceramic magnets and wound with 44 AWG wire in the neck position and 45 AWG wire in the hotter bridge position, these dual-blade humbuckers achieve classic Firebird tone with added punch and clarity.

A set of high-tech Steinberger gearless in-line tuners offer unparalleled efficiency while retaining the traditional “no keys” look that preserves the elegant “bird’s beak” lines of the headstock.
