Fender California Stratocaster with Maple Fretboard with Gigbag 1997 – Candy Apple Red

The California Series featured CNC-cut bodies and necks from Fender’s Corona, California factory. Fender then finished the instruments in Ensenada, Mexico, before returning them to the USA for final assembly. This process combined efficient production with premium American hardware and electronics.

This Stratocaster delivers classic Fender tone with excellent modern playability. The maple neck and fingerboard feature a comfortable 9.5-inch radius. As a result, the guitar feels smooth for both rhythm playing and lead work. The factory-original Tex-Mex single-coil pickups provide the iconic Stratocaster sound. Expect clear highs, punchy mids, and the famous “quack” in the in-between pickup positions.

In addition, the guitar includes upgraded locking tuners for improved tuning stability and easier string changes. The vintage-style bridge and traditional hardware maintain the classic Strat appearance. The guitar weighs a comfortable 7lbs 7oz, making it easy to play for long sessions.

This Fender California Series Stratocaster recently received a professional setup and a fresh set of strings. It plays exceptionally well with low, fast action. The frets have been polished and remain in good condition with plenty of playing life remaining.

Cosmetically, the guitar shows minor play wear consistent with its age. The chrome bridge finish has some cosmetic pitting, which does not affect performance. A professional repair was also completed on the headstock near the low E and A tuning machines. The repair remains stable and does not impact playability.
