Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom 1963 Firebird V Electric Guitar – Polaris White w/ Case

The Epiphone and Gibson Custom teams have teamed up again. Together, they created the updated Inspired by Gibson Custom 1963 Firebird V Reissue with Maestro Vibrola. This model is an authentic recreation of the original Firebird designed by legendary automotive designer Ray Dietrich.

When the Firebird debuted in 1963, it was Gibson’s first neck-through-body guitar. Over the years, it became popular with players across many genres. Notable users included Johnny Winter, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Eric Clapton, and Phil Manzanera.

The updated Firebird V delivers vintage-inspired specifications at a more accessible price. First, it features a 9-ply neck-through-body made from mahogany and walnut. Mahogany body wings are attached to either side of the neck. This construction provides excellent resonance, sustain, and tonal transfer.

The neck has a comfortable SlimTaper Rounded C profile. Soft fretboard edges add an easy, played-in feel. The rosewood fretboard features mother-of-pearl trapezoid inlays and 22 medium-jumbo frets. The side dots are also historically accurate in both size and placement.

For the hardware, Kluson planetary geared “banjo” tuners complete the classic Firebird look. An Epiphone ABR-1 bridge and Maestro Vibrola provide smooth and reliable performance. The Vibrola also features an engraved Epiphone logo.

Finally, the electronics are designed to deliver classic Firebird tone. The guitar includes Gibson USA Firebird mini-humbuckers with Alnico 5 magnets. It also features CTS potentiometers, Mallory capacitors, and a Switchcraft 3-way pickup selector and output jack.

An Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom hardshell case is included.
